Horrible Harvest
The Untold Story of the Confederate, Augustus Tennyson
My Work is Done Here

I used this blog to force myself to finish the third and final draft of my latest Southern Gothic novel. I figured if I essentially did a live rewrite, the public commitment would force my hand, and it worked. The final draft is done. I’ve removed access to the chapters as they appeared here because I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with the book moving forward.
I’ll also have to decide what to do with this blog. Perhaps, I’ll document my journey trying to get it published or who knows, I may just self-publish.
Horrible Harvest: The Untold Story of the Confederate, Augustus Tennyson is an unpublished work about a boy born on a rice farm in Charleston, South Carolina, to an abusive alcoholic. It is a coming-of-age story that follows Augustus from the Antebellum South through the Civil War, past Reconstruction, and into the year before the United States enters World War I.
Augustus does not choose where he is born, the men who shape him, or whom he comes to love. He is molded by poverty, racism, and the plantation class that rules the South like feudal lords. Can he rise above the hate that made him?
